Village Eyecare at Vision Expo West: 2017

Every year, Dr. Sood and Dr. Sarai look forward to attending the International Vision Expo & Conference in New York and Las Vegas. The four-day event is jam packed with activities, people to meet and products to discover as the entire eye care industry comes together to showcase new technologies, eye wear, educational seminars, networking and more.

As a long-time attendee, Dr. Sood explains how beneficial it is for her and her husband to experience the Vision Expo. This year, they left invigorated and satisfied for all they were able to accomplish. Dr. Sood explains, “We always get so much out of the show and this year was no different. While in Vegas, we were able to find new frame lines, new technologies and some exciting new software that we can’t wait to implement at Village Eyecare. We go to Vision Expo twice a year and we’re constantly inspired with so many new ideas and products we can bring back to our practices. We feel very confident that we are bringing the latest technological advancements in eye care to our patients in Chicago.”

This year, Dr. Sood was honored to participate in a dynamic panel to discuss independent eye wear brands, “SHE Embraces Independents.” The conversation was centered around why it’s important to support independent eyewear and this especially hit home for Dr. Sood, who has been carrying independent eyewear lines since at Village Eyecare since day one. Frame lines such as Prodesign Denmark, Etnia Barcelona, and Lafont are among many that Village Eyecare offers to their patients.

Why does Dr. Sood place emphasis on the independent frame lines they carry? Because many of these companies are family owned and have been in the optical industry for generations, which is something she and Dr. Sarai can relate to and very much admire. The frames are of better quality because there is a strong emphasis on using premium materials in the craftsmanship. She explains, “We love that they’re not mass produced and that there are always new, cutting edge and fashion forward designs coming out–something we know our patients appreciate and have come to expect.
