OUR DOCTORS are true leaders in the field of optometry, with extensive knowledge of eye conditions, treatments, and technological advances in the eye care industry. All of our doctors stay current by attending continuing education classes and seminars. They have a passion for caring for peoples’ eyes and take great pride in providing patients with the most comprehensive care.

Satti Sarai OD
Satti Sarai ODOwner & Optometrist

Dr. Satti Sarai is an experienced optometrist, who has been practicing in Chicago for over 14 years. He has brought many valuable qualities and services to Village Eyecare, including state of the art technology for top notch diagnostic capabilities  Always at the forefront of advances in the field of optometry, Dr. Sarai has extensive experience utilizing Scleral lenses, Synergeyes lenses and Duette lenses to treat a number of eye diseases including Keratoconus, Corneal Ectasia, and Dry Eye Syndrome. He also places an emphasis on glaucoma management, myopia control, orthokeratology, and difficult contact lens fittings.

Dr. Sarai receives high marks with bedside manner and communication on the status of eye health. He stays current by leading and taking part in continuing education and travelling across the country to attend professional seminars and conferences.

Dr. Sarai was raised in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. He attended Simon Fraser University with a degree in Kinesiology. He graduated from UC Berkeley with high honors and showed leadership in all of his clinical rotations.

An interesting note is that Dr. Sarai is nicknamed ‘Pepsi’ by friends. As a teenager, he played for the U-16 Canadian National Soccer Team. His hobbies and interests include swimming, traveling, and lecturing at local speaking events. Dr. Sarai loves spending time with his wife, three children, friends and family.

Mona Sood OD
Mona Sood ODOwner & Optometrist

Dr. Sood was born and raised in Chicago. She attended the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and graduated with honors in Biology and Chemistry, before heading off to the School of Optometry at University of California in Berkeley to complete her doctorate.

Dr. Mona Sood has extensive experience in all aspects of eye care including complex contact lens fittings, ocular disease treatment and surgical co-management. Her thorough knowledge and experience in ophthalmic optics has continually helped patients in their comfort and design of their eyewear and contact lenses.

Dr. Sood’s passion for vision and eye care began over 20 years ago during a volunteer experience in India, helping women and girls at a school for the blind. This experience and interest in medicine led her to pursue a Doctorate in Optometry. Dr. Sood continues to volunteer her time to reduce avoidable blindness across the globe. Most recently, she joined the VOSH team in Guatemala to provide exams and eyewear to over 1500 patients.

As an avid tennis player and a former Division I collegiate athlete Dr. Sood knows first-hand how important it is to have good eye sight. She continues to stay active with triathlons, tennis and swimming. In her free time she enjoys traveling, cooking, entertaining and above all spending time with her husband and three children.

Krista Mathson OD
Krista Mathson ODAssociate Optometrist

Dr. Krista Mathson is well versed in the medical model of optometry, including diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and co-management of diabetic eye disease. She is also proficient in fitting specialty contact lenses for keratoconus and other corneal conditions. Dr. Mathson appreciates the opportunity to educate her patients on the connection between ocular and systemic health, as well as how to keep your precious eyes healthy for life.

Dr. Mathson was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, and has worked in the eyecare industry since age nineteen. At Augustana College, she focused her studies on both Biology and Psychology before completing her doctorate at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, receiving honors in her clinical rotations. She brings compassion and expertise to ensure that your contacts and glasses enhance your vision fully with the best technology.

Dr. Mathson enjoys reading crime novels, taking yoga and barre classes, and spending time with loved ones. She is active in the profession of optometry as a member of the Illinois Optometric Association and American Optometric Association.

Ashley Zimmerman OD
Ashley Zimmerman ODAssociate Optometrist

Dr. Ashley Zimmerman values practicing as a family doctor with eye care that evolves as you and your family grow. With a special interest in pediatric optometry, she enjoys making the exam as fun as possible with young children by changing testing sequences into games. Dr. Zimmerman also recognizes the impact technology and screen time have in our fast-paced world and seeks to provide patients the best glasses and contacts for comfortable computer use. Finally, as we age our eyes age–she also has valuable experiencing treating diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other eye diseases.

Dr. Zimmerman was born in Pennsylvania and was drawn to the eye profession due to her own early onset high near-sighted prescription. At The University of Pittsburgh, she studied Biology and Chemistry in preparation for optometry school which she completed at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. During that time she had the opportunity to travel to Mexico to provide eye exams and free glasses to a rural community.

Dr. Zimmerman enjoys painting and urban gardening as well as reading and hiking. She also loves to travel and spending time outdoors, and aims to visit as many natural wonders as possible.

Zory Stoev OD
Zory Stoev ODAssociate Optometrist

Dr. Stoev practices full-scope optometry to the utmost standards and values staying up-to-date with the latest ocular research. She specializes in low vision because of the positive impact she can make when she is able to change someone’s life. Her experience includes extensive knowledge in low vision rehabilitation, helping patients of all ages keep their independence and lifestyle following permanent vision loss. Dr. Stoev is also proficient at diagnosing and managing ocular pathology using the treatments and technologies available at Village Eyecare.

Dr. Stoev graduated cum laude with her Doctor of Optometry Degree at the Illinois College of Optometry. Taking her studies a step further, she completed a post-graduate residency in Low Vision Rehabilitation and Ocular Disease at the Illinois College of Optometry, Chicago Lighthouse for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired and Spectrios Institute for Low Vision.

Dr. Stoev was born in Bulgaria and fluent in Bulgarian, moving to the United States with her family when she was nineteen years old. In her free time, Dr. Stoev loves practicing yoga, exploring new destinations and cultures, baking, and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite holiday is Christmas and she loves to listen to Christmas carols.
