Village Eyecare is very excited to sponsor the VisionWalk again this year. We have had a great history with the Chicago walk and we are enthusiastic about increasing our support this year. At the time of this email, we are at 65% of our goal of raising $2,000 for Foundation Fighting Blindness. We invite you to read why this cause is so important to us and we would be so grateful if you could help contribute to our fundraising efforts with any size donation. Every little bit helps!
Village Eyecare owner and optometrist Dr. Mona Sood's interest in vision care started over 20 years ago at a blind school for girls in India. Since then, she has been involved in various efforts to raise awareness about different forms of blindness. Over 10 million Americans suffer from vision loss because of retinal disease, and these fundraising efforts are designed to give them hope for a cure.
The money raised during VisionWalk works toward preventing and reversing blindness in a number of ways. The walk provides financial support for researchers throughout the country and world. Just as important, it raises awareness in the community. Most Chicagoans do not know that the number of Americans who are visually impaired extend into the millions. They are even less aware that a large number of those afflicted are children and young adults with retinal degenerative diseases. It is truly inspirational to see how the cutting-edge research help so many.

The 13th Annual Chicago VisionWalk takes place this Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Busse Woods. Registration starts at 9am, the stage presentation is at 9:30 and at 10am the walk begins. The event is over by 11.
It is a wonderful family and dog-friendly event with food, live music. The kids love the bouncy houses and face painting. If you'd like to join us, we will provide you with a Village Eyecare T-shirt. It will undoubtedly be a success with all of your help.
